HOW TO STORE

Dragon fruit can be stored at a cool room temperature for a day or two, but then should be stored in the refrigerator.

Place your purchased dragon fruit on your counter at room temperature to ripen it for use. The fruit is ripe when the pink or yellow color of the exterior darkens, after which you can transfer the fruit into your refrigerator for up to five days.

HOW TO SELECT

Examine the outer skin of the dragon fruit. Dragon fruit is bright pink in color. Look for skin that is evenly colored and devoid of bruises and knife marks. While some variation in the skin is common, the fruit should generally be the same color all over.

Touch the stem of the dragon fruit. A brittle stem denotes an overripe fruit, so look for a stem with slight pliancy.

Examine the leaves cover the outside of the fruit. They should be brightly colored, without browning on the ends

USAGE TIPS

Eating dragon fruit is really simple because the red outer skin simply peels off the heart of the fruit. Better yet, just cut the fruit in half, gently scoop out the white fruit with a spoon and go to town from there!

The red skin usually remains firm enough to be a bowl too, so definitely use the skin as a serving vessel.

Chilling the dragon fruit in the fridge before serving also adds to the refreshing flavor and is additionally helpful at firming up the texture if your dragon fruit is particularly soft.
